A kurzus elsősorban az egyetem fizika- és biológia szakos hallgatóinak szól, de nyilvános, tehát szabadon látogatható mindenki számára.

This six hour lecture series is an introduction to astrobiology at the mid-undergraduate level, for biology and physics students. No calculus will be used, but I'll refer to algebra (Kepler's laws

and the inverse-square law).

Topics will include:

• 1) Light and how astronomers use it: blackbody radiation, Wien's law, spectral lines, telescopes, wavelengths of light
• 2) History of Earth: lithosphere, atmosphere
  
• 3) How planets move: Kepler's laws
  
• 4) Our solar system: Venus, Mars, giant planets, satellites of giant planets, Pluto/Eris, comets, asteroids
  
• 5) Life on Earth and how we think it developed: the chemistry of life, the fossil record
  
• 6) Stars+Exoplanets: types, lifetimes, population statistics, formation
  
• 7) The Search for Life: extremophiles, search in the Solar System, search around other stars, interstellar communication and travel
