On 15 December 2021, the British QS published its latest EECA (East Europe & Central Asia) ranking, in which the University of Szeged was ranked 29th. Its strongest indicator is its visibility on the internet, where it is ranked in the top 20 in the region, at 16th place.

The ranking continues to be based on ten criteria: 30 percent of the weighting is based on the Academic Reputation of the institution, 20 percent on Employer Reputation, 10 percent on faculty/student ratio, 5 percent on the number of staff with a PhD, 5 percent citations per paper, 10 percent on papers per faculty and 10 percent on the institution's international research network. The proportion of international faculty and international students was weighted at 2.5-2.5 percent, and the web impact (visibility) of the institution on the Internet was weighted at 5 percent.
