QS EECA Ranking: SZTE is the Best Hungarian University Outside of the Capital

British QS has published their newest international ranking list featuring the top universities in emerging Europe and Central Asia. The University of Szeged has stepped up seven places compared to its position last year: it is now at the 26th position of the list. This makes SZTE the best Hungarian University outside of the capital.

According to the newest, 2021 ranking of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the University of Szeged has stepped up to the 26th position from number 33 last year. With its current position, SZTE is in the top 7% of the list of featured institutions (a two per cent development compared to last year), and the best Hungarian university outside of the capital city.

This year, 400 higher education institutions from emerging Europe and Central Asia are featured in the QS ranking: 52 more than last year. The order was determined along ten factors assessed: Academic reputation contributed to the positions to 30%, while employer reputation to 20%. Further factors were faculty per student ratio (10%), papers per faculty (10%), international research network (10%), web impact (5%), staff with a PhD (5%), citations per paper (5%). The ratio of international faculty members and international students were both counted for 2.5%-2.5% each.

On the 2021 list, 17 Hungarian universities were included in the assessment, four out of these made it to the top 50. SZTE was the second best in Hungary and the best university outside of Budapest. The Szeged University has received assessments better than last year along several factors: we have developed in academic reputation, employer reputation as well as with our international research network.
