The Hungarian Centre of Excellence for Molecular Medicine (HCEMM) announces a call for “HCEMM Junior Research Group Leaders”.
The aim of the call is to find excellent Junior Principal Investigators (PIs), who have received their doctoral degree within the last seven years and who want to be a part of something new and ground-breaking. HCEMM is searching for Junior Group Leaders to set up and operate their own research groups within the HCEMM program, joining their current research network of more than 80 researchers across 18 already established research groups.
The successful candidates will be hosted in state-of-the-art facilities at the HCEMM sites.
An initial contract of 4 years will be offered to successful candidates with a possibility of extension to maximum of 9 years, subject to an external, independent, international review. The positions will be affiliated with both the HCEMM and one of the host institutions.
HCEMM, the Hungarian Centre of Excellence for Molecular Medicine, is a rapidly growing National Laboratory. Its research groups work on topics related to Translational Medicine with a focus on Healthy Ageing. HCEMM has four major research pillars: (a) Immuno-Inflammatory Diseases; (b) Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases; (c) Genomic Instability and Cancer and (d) Infectious Diseases related to Co-Morbidities. HCEMM has three sites: the Semmelweis University (Budapest), the University of Szeged and the Biological Research Centre (Szeged) (for details of the already established groups click here).
HCEMM’s funding is provided by an E.U. Teaming Grant, received together with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL Heidelberg), co-funding by the HCEMM Owners, matching funds by national and international grants as well as funding under the Hungarian National Laboratory Funding program. For the newly recruited Group Leaders, considerable start-up funds will be provided. As part of the HCEMM-EMBL Partnership, the new research groups will get access to EMBLcore facilities, workshops and possibilities for collaborations with researchers within the EMBL network.
